Sam Pitroda's Pakistan controversy: Congress Overseas Chief Sam Pitroda has landed himself in a fresh controversy with his statement that he “felt at home” during a visit to Pakistan. His remark drew sharp criticisim from political outfits including the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

After Congress Overseas Chief Sam Pitroda's controversial statement, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reacted strongly. In his statement, Sam Pitroda said that he “felt at home” in Pakistan, which shows party's alleged soft corner for Paksitan, as per BJP.

Sam Pitroda's controversial statement

Sam Pitroda has sparked controversy with his statement on foreign policy, requesting India to prioritise stronger ties with Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. Expressing his personal experiences, Pitroda said, “I’ve been to Pakistan and I must tell you, I felt at home. I’ve been to Bangladesh, I’ve been to Nepal, and I feel at home.”

BJP’s criticism

Slamming Congress over Pitroda’s comment, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari in his X post wrote, “Rahul Gandhi’s blue-eyed boy & Congress Overseas chief Sam Pitroda says he ‘felt at home’ in Pakistan. No wonder UPA took no tough action against Pak even after 26/11. Pakistan’s favourite, Congress’s chosen!”

His comment has sparked much controversy among political circle. BJP has now also questioned the Congress’s foreign policy approach. However, Congress has not yet released statement in clarification or defending Pitroda’s comment.
